The Adamawa State government has issued a public safety advisory following significant damage to a section of the Pella–Maiha Road caused by recent heavy and unprecedented rainfall.
In a statement yesterday, the government cautioned motorists and commuters to avoid the affected stretch of road near Nzedinyi town and instead use alternative routes until repairs are completed.
The statement, signed by Alvari Gundiri, Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Energy, emphasised that the temporary closure is a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring the safety of all road users and preventing accidents or travel disruptions.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reportedly directed immediate remedial works on the damaged portion of the road to restore safe access and minimise the impact on commuters and residents.
“The Adamawa State Government appreciates the understanding and cooperation of the public as we work diligently to address this situation,” the statement read.
Residents and travellers in the area were also urged to remain vigilant and comply with safety advisories while restoration efforts are underway.
The road was washed away by a recent heavy downpour that lasted several hours.
