Lagos State government has urged the Federal Government to review school curriculum that will train and equip pupils to enable them to operate and compete globally.

It said that it is already tinkering with its curriculum to include vocational, technical and technology subjects like artificial intelligence, coding and robotics in all its schools, noting that information technology is critical.

The state’s Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo, who gave the advice at the Blockchain summit and graduation ceremony of Blockchain Vibes Academy, at the weekend, stated: “It is important that today’s pupils are taught and equipped to be eminently qualified and become employable and employers in a technology disruptive environment.

“This will make them more effective in the world they are going to live in.

“Now, we need to go into deeper technical things beyond coding to blockchain technology.”

Meanwhile, Chairman, Blockchain Vibes Academy, Femi Adegolu, said that the academy was set up to create opportunities for young people and check unemployment, which has made young Nigerians go into Internet fraud.

“So, with a training like this, they can create products that they can sell to the world and not defraud people. I am happy that about 50 students were able to complete the training and graduated,” Adegolu said.

Adegolu, who stated that Blockchain technology is critical to having an efficient society.
