Sanwo-Olu appoints 11 new permanent secretaries

Group donates library to Lagos school to commemorate World Literacy Day
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of nine permanent secretaries and two tutors-general/permanent secretaries in the state public service.

The new appointees are Osinaike Olusegun Olawale, Oyetola Idowu Olufunke, Oyegbola Olasunkanmi Mopileola, Dawodu Kikelomo Arinola, Toriola Abdulhafis Gbolahan, Abidakun Olubusola Ajibola, Aina Ololade Olasupo, Kasunmu Ibilola Olufolake, Sogunle Michael Olumide, Sotire Oluwole Olumide and Obajomo Ibrahim Amodu.

In a statement, yesterday, the state Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, said that the appointments were based on merit, as appointees were selected from the pool of qualified candidates, sequel to the executive development and screening exercise for eligible directors, which held in April 2022.

While confirming that the appointments of the nine new permanent secretaries are with immediate effect, Muri-Okunola, said that the swearing-in ceremony of all the appointees would take place today.

MEANWHILE, Sanwo-Olu and Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo, have been commended for their selfless effort in ensuring qualitative education in the state.

The duo were lauded, yesterday, by the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye, during the celebration of 2022 International Literacy Day, which was commemorated by the donation of the first set of 65 libraries to Ayedere Ajibola Senior Grammar School, Ketu, Lagos, by Do The Dream Youth Development Initiative, in collaboration with United States Chicago, Illinois non-governmental organisation life development centre.

Adekanye described yesterday as a special day in the lives of students all over the world and appreciated the initiative and the partner for keying into the reality that the government cannot do it alone.

She expressed the necessity for non-governmental organisations and individuals to contribute immensely to the development of education in Lagos State.

Founder/Executive Director of the group, Adebusuyi Olutayo Olumadewa, said the leadership library was developed to help students in secondary school enhance their leadership abilities by instilling a passion for reading to help them make informed choices that will benefit their interactions and decisions in the future.

He added that it would also bridge the reading and learning inequalities that exist in Nigeria between public and private schools.
