THE Chairman, Senate Committee on Environment and Ecology, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has urged politicians, both elected and appointed, to emulate the President-elect, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, by declaring their assets.

THE Chairman, Senate Committee on Environment and Ecology, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has urged politicians, both elected and appointed, to emulate the President-elect, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, by declaring their assets.

Besides, he asked politicians to make transparency and accountability their watchwords.

A statement by his media aide, Bamikole Omishore yesterday in Ilorin, which stated this would help to restore the confidence of the citizenry in governance, said: “Corruption has been one of the greatest challenges we face as a country in the last few years.

“Saraki, who has always declared his assets before and after every political office since 2003, assured Nigerians that he will continue to do so, but more than ever Nigerians want and deserve more.
They want public officials to be committed to zero tolerance for corruption and show leadership by example by making sure they are not found wanting.”
