Shehu Sani condemns Katsina officials for diverting rice meant for the poor
Civil rights critic and former lawmaker, who represented Kaduna Central Zone in the 8th National Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani, has lampooned Katsina State government officials for allegedly diverting bags of rice meant for the masses.
The bags of rice diverted by the officials were among the palliatives released by the government to cushion the economic hardship in the state.
Sani, in a post on his X handle on Friday, warned that the government shouldn’t complain that the people are causing trouble when they protest.
He said: “Katsina Government officials, why did you divert bags of rice meant for the poor? If the people now protest, you will say they are causing trouble.”
It was gathered that the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Katsina State Command recovered 2,000 bags of rice out of the 20 trucks donated to the state by the Federal Government.
The recovered rice was said to have been allegedly diverted by some government officials.
The federal government had said earlier that the rice was a gesture to cushion the effects of the current economic hardship in the country.
