
BORNO State Governor, Kashim Shettima, has signed the N159.36 billion appropriation bill, with an increase of N4.1 billion made by the State House of Assembly into law.
Signing the document at the Government House, Maiduguri Wednesday, Shettima said that the passage of 2016 budget for ascent “is a testimony of the good working relationship between the legislative and executive arms of government in the state.”
His words: “Today (yesterday) marks an epoch making occasion in the history of Borno State. We cannot thank the House of Assembly enough for expeditiously passing this appropriation bill in a record period of time.”
On the increase in the budget from N4.1 billion, the Speaker of the House, Abdulkarim Lawan said: “The increase of over N4 billion to the appropriation bill came from the ministries of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Poverty Alleviation and Youth Empowerment. We had to increase this budget from an initial proposed N155.3 billion to N159.36 billion.”
