The Old Boys Association of St. Joseph’s College, Ondo (SJCOBA), has unveiled an ambitious ₦250 million development initiative to mark the 70th anniversary of one of Nigeria’s most respected secondary schools.

The projects, which aim to revitalise facilities and strengthen the college’s academic standing, include the refurbishment of classrooms, provision of online learning tools in core subjects, and a ₦50 million endowment fund to support students, staff, and community welfare.

President of the National Executive Council of SJCOBA, Nobilitas Olusola Akinniyi, said the anniversary projects were conceived to reflect the school’s enduring legacy of academic excellence and moral discipline. According to him, the celebrations—spanning from Monday, March 16 to Sunday, March 22—will include a series of high-profile events such as media engagements, project inaugurations, sports competitions, interschool debates, an anniversary lecture, a medical outreach across Ondo City, and a grand fundraising banquet.

Akinniyi added that the association has launched a robust fundraising campaign to meet its ₦250 million target. The drive includes a minimum contribution of ₦500,000 from each graduating set, individual donations, corporate sponsorships, merchandise sales, and crowdfunding initiatives among alumni both within Nigeria and abroad. “This initiative represents our collective commitment to ensuring that St. Joseph’s College continues to thrive as a beacon of excellence for generations to come,” he said.
