Members of a cult group, Vikings Confraternity, have reportedly shot dead a 20-year-old Oyeme Eguari in Abbi, Ndokwa West local government area of Delta State.
The Guardian learnt that the incident, which occurred on the eve of New Year during the crossover night, had soured the New Year celebration in the community.
According to Community sources, the deceased was shot dead at the beer parlour located near Ejakita Street, Abbi town.
“The young boy was having fun with his friends. They were drinking beer at a bar in Ejakita Street, Abbi Town, Ndokwa West Local Council of Delta State when it happened.
“He was shot by a group of cultists who are members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity (SVC) in Abbi town.
“This particular violent secret cult group had masterminded many violent crimes, namely armed robbery, murder, attempted murder, illicit drug trafficking, and grievous harm in the community.
“Please, we are using this medium to seek the intervention of the government in Delta State to stop incessant killings in Abbi town,” the source added.
Meanwhile, some community members asked human rights activists to assist the Police to stop the killing of innocent people in Abbi town. When contacted, the spokesperson for the state Police Command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident but couldn’t offer further details.
