The remains of the late Benue State correspondent of The Guardian Newspaper, Joseph Wantu yesterday laid to rest at his country home, Shangev-Ya, Kwande local council area, Benue state.

Pastor Silas Aondonenge Ieren, in his homily at the burial ceremony, exhorted the living to always be mindful that life on earth is transient. He urged them to shun evil and live according to the will of God in order to prepare for judgment day.

Vice President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Zone D, Comrade Chris Atsaka, who led the Benue state council of the union to the burial, described the late Want as a trustworthy and dependable colleague. He said the deceased would be sorely missed by all and sundry.

He later delivered the message of the National President of NUJ, Chris Isiguzo (MFR) to the family of the deceased journalist.

Correspondent Chapel chairman, Tor Vande Acka, also extolled the virtues of the late Wantu, saying that he served as the Vice Chairman of the Benue state correspondent chapel and remained a rallying point whose counsel was always sought.
