President Bola Tinubu, yesterday, received a call from the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden.
The call, which came at 4 p.m., Nigerian time, lasted for about 30 minutes and centred around the issues of Binance and the UN Security Council permanent seat, among others.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, who briefed newsmen at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, about the development.
Tuggar disclosed that the discussion by the two leaders centred around the recent release of the Head of Finance Crime compliance at Binance, Tigran Gambaryan.
The American cryptocurrency executive held in Nigeria for the past eight months was recently released after authorities announced they were ending his money laundering trial on health and diplomatic grounds.
Tuggar said: “The call was about the collaboration between the two countries with regards to law enforcement and law enforcement agencies as well as the release of one of the suspects of the cryptocurrency exchange company that you are all aware of.
“The leaders also discussed the issue of a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council and Biden assured that the United States was committed to seeing Africa have a permanent seat and does not see why one of those seats should not belong to Nigeria.”
