The president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu cast his vote in the ongoing governorship and state assembly elections in the Ikeja area of Lagos State on Saturday.

Tinubu who won the February 25th presidential election on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) cast his vote at polling Unit 085, Ward F, Sunday Adigun Alausa in Ikeja.

“I just joined other Nigerians in exercising my civic duty in the ongoing governorship and state assembly elections. I encourage you all to go out and vote peacefully,” Tinubu tweeted.

The officers of the Department of State Security arrived at the polling unit of the president-elect in Ikeja in large numbers.

The presence of the security officials is in accordance with their duty to provide security protocol for Tinubu as the president-elect.

The governorship and the state houses of assembly elections are taking place today across 28 out of the 36 states of the federation.

The state elections, the second phase of the 2023 General Elections were initially scheduled for 11 March but deferred by one week following a Court of Appeal order granting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) permission to reconfigure the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) for the exercise.
