President inaugurates landmark projects
Commissioner for Youths in Imo State, Dr Emeka Mandela, and the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo State Council, Ifeanyi Nwangumam, have stated that the visit of President Bola Tinubu to the state will spur youth development and socio-economic growth in the state.
Mandela and Nwanguma stated this while interacting with newsmen at the official launch of a book, written by Governor Hope Uzodimma, titled: A Decade of Impactful Progressive Governance in Nigeria, held in Owerri, the state capital, yesterday.
They also applauded the President and Uzodimma for their visionary leadership and development-driven governance at both the federal and state levels, adding that Imo State, under Uzodimma’s leadership, has witnessed significant dividends of democracy despite security challenges.
Mandela said: “There is no doubt that the President’s visit to our state has enormous socio-economic benefits. Also, it is a fact that Imo has gained significantly from the Renewed Hope Agenda of Tinubu.
“Lucky enough, Imo has Governor Hope Uzodimma, who has so far demonstrated genuine commitment to economic growth and overall development of the state through his visionary leadership and impactful governance.”
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were in Imo State yesterday for the presentation of the book by Uzodimma.
Others at the unveiling of the book include traditional rulers, religious leaders, academics, and other dignitaries from across the country. The National Chairman of APC, Prof. Nentawa Yilwatda, has described Uzodimma as a conscious force in the party’s political journey in Nigeria.
The book presentation formed part of the activities during the President’s Bone-day working visit to Imo State.
Meanwhile, Tinubu, yesterday, inaugurated some projects executed by the Uzodimma administration in Imo State.
Tinubu, who arrived in the state at about 2:30 p.m., commissioned the 52-kilometre Owerri-Mbaise-Umuahia Road, the Control-Assumpta Cathedral Catholic Church Twin Flyover, and the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre (EIICC), Owerri. He praised the governor for his efforts in putting the projects into place.
The crowd, comprising residents, school children, students, government officials, and monarchs, among others, had converged on the streets to witness the events. He also inspected some projects executed by the administration, describing them as a collaboration between the state and the Federal Government.
