Some tipper drivers in the Kuje Area Council of the FCT have called on the council authority to provide a proper parking garage for tipper operators to help their business to thrive.

The drivers told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kuje on Thursday that the lack of adequate parking space often causes traffic congestion in the area.

Mr. Idris Ndaman, the Chairman, Kuje Road Transport Workers, who spoke on behalf of the group, said although they pay N500 daily as revenue tax, nothing had been done to address their problem.

Ndaman said that the problem was compounded by the bad access road linking the Kuje-Gwagwalada Road.

According to him, the temporary tipper garage located opposite AZMAN petrol station is “very dangerous’’.

He, therefore, appealed to the local authority to make provision for a proper parking garage.

“We don’t have enough space to park our vehicles; when rain falls, our trucks get stuck in the mud and cause serious damage thereby hindering our business.

“Every day we pay N500 to the local government authority as revenue tax, yet they have not been able to account for how they spend our money.”

Ndaman said that all efforts to discuss way out with the council chairman had not yielded any positive result.

He appealed to the council chairman to deliver on his campaign promise in order to encourage them.
