The commendation is contained in a statement issued in Asaba on behalf of the Traditional Rulers by the first Vice Chairman of the State Traditional Rulers Council and the Obi of Owa, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor the second.

The Traditional Rulers congratulated the Governor-Elect, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa on his landslide victory at the polls, saying the victory was an expression of collective will of Deltans, which has been entrusted to him to pilot the affairs of the state.

While urging Okowa to translate his well deserved victory at the polls to meaningful development that would be beneficial to people, the traditional rulers enjoined him to be magnanimous in victory, adding that those who lost the election should show spirit of good sportsmanship by accepting defeat in good faith.

The royal fathers specifically admonished those who lost at the polls to take a cue from President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, by congratulating winners at the various levels of the electoral contest.
