The Imo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja has upheld the election of Hope Uzodimma as Imo State Governor.

The tribunal gave its ruling yesterday, dismissing the petition of the People Democratic party (PDP) and its governorships candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

The PDP in the petition, among others, challenged Uzodimma’s qualification alleging that his General Certificate of Education result issued by WAEC was forged.

Delivering judgment, the tribunal held that the PDP in their petition failed to prove the allegation of over-voting and non-compliance as alleged.

The three-man panel also held that the petitioners failed to prove that Uzodimma submitted a forged certificate and that his election was in accordance with the Electoral Act.

Uzodimma scored 540,308 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Anyanwu, of the PDP.
