Two Arrested At Nekede Poly Over N1.6m Fraud
THE authorities of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, have arrested two persons for alleged defrauding over 24 persons, with the promised of securing jobs for them in the institution.
Similarly, the Rector of the institution, Dr Celestina Njoku, has denied directing members of staffer and management to contribute to church building completion, as being rumour by some persons.
According to a statement made available to The Guardian yesterday in Owerri by the Special Assistant on Media Matters to the Rector, Fidel Onyeneke, the suspects were apprehended based on the information received by the management on their fraudulent practices. He added that the culprits had been handed over to security operatives.
The statement reads: “The Management of the Polytechnic has alerted members of the public on the activities of fraudsters who dupe people of huge sums of money with a promise to offer them employment in the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri.
“Recently, two persons were arrested and apprehended in Owerri following reports that they collected sums totaling over N1.6 million from more than 24 persons under the pretext that they would secure jobs for them in the polytechnic.
