Labour Unions at Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINIS,) Ilorin, Kwara State have urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rescind the reappointment of Comrade Issa Aremu as the Director General of the institute.
The organised Labour union, on Monday, while rejecting Aremu’s second term appointment of another for a second tenure after his first four year term.
The unions urged President Tinubu to consider the reports they submitted to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment before appointing the next Director General for the institute.
The unions made the call while updating their members on the latest struggle in the institute.
The chairperson of the Academic Staff Union of Research (MINIS chapter,) Ruth Ejechi, Chairman Senior Staff Association in the MINIS, Idris Abdulmajeed and the Chairman Non Staff Union in the institute, Dele Joel Afolayan, told the staff that all their grievances have been submitted to the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
They all stated that they expect all their grievances to be treated before the appointment of the new director general.
The labour leaders frowned at the level of under-development of the institute in the past four years which they blamed on poor management.
Also, they alleged that funds allocated for training programmes were not utilized for such purposes while development of infrastructures suffered serious neglect.
