Vanguard Columnist, Kogbara  Regains Freedom

THE Vanguard newspaper columnist, Ms. Dornu Kogbara, who was kidnapped two weeks ago, has regained freedom from her abductors.

Kogbara was freed at about 12 a.m. yesterday morning, in Port Harcourt, after spending 12 days in the hands of her captors.

While briefing journalists at her residence in Nkpogu, Port Harcourt, where she was abducted, the columnist thanked her employers and members of the public for their concern.

She said, “I am happy to say that I have been released. I am alive despite all the things I have lost in the cause of the robbery that preceded the abduction.”

Kogbara denied allegations that her abduction was politically-motivated, but added that the bandits had grudges against some politicians in the state.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Musa Kimo, has expressed gratitude to God for Kogbara’s release, describing it as his happiest moment.

Kimo assured Rivers people that the command would not relent in its fight against criminals and their activities.
