Why vinyl car wrapping is better, eco-friendly auto hack — Zeuswrap CEO

As conversations around curbing global carbon emissions and boosting eco-friendly manufacturing or maintenance continue to shape global practices in the automotive industry, Nigerian car lovers should explore vinyl wrapping as a safe compromise, according to Zeuswrap CEO Leslie Abiola.

“Apart from the aesthetics of car wrapping being a conversation starter, it’s also a safer practice than painting because it contains lower carbon emissions, and there are no health risks for both the consumer and service operators, like inhalation of paint, which we all know causes respiratory illnesses in the long run,” he explained.

A car and household item wrapping service, which has been in operation for over five years, Zeuswrap presently services a mixed population of luxury or supercar owners in Lagos, as well as private and commercially used economy cars. Based in Lagos, the firm also offers vinyl decals, car tyre lettering, window tinting, general fleet branding, as well as laptop, fridge, and wall wrapping services across Nigeria.

According to Abiola, the car wrapping technique involves layering the car with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) films that emit less carbon than car paint, which is made entirely with petrochemicals. The vinyl films are also recyclable and involve less waste than painting, which requires sanding or stripping, he noted.

“Every car lover understands that it’s beyond aesthetics; it’s more about protection and sustainability for your car,” he said calmly. “And when it comes to vinyl wrapping, it’s almost like going electric; it’s cleaner, and you’re not going to fall sick from exposure, and neither would our technicians.”

The Zeuswrap honcho, who has also carved a bold reputation across the sports and luxury car maintenance sector, emphasised that with the influx of supercars imported into the country and growing interest in car wrapping in Lagos, the scene is poised to stimulate the country’s auto market and overall economy.

Meanwhile, while commenting on his come-up journey, the car maintenance honcho also emphasised a primary need for passion among core requirements for aspiring car wrap brands in the country.

“I started with wrapping laptops, and I later grew tired of that and decided to wrap bigger objects like cars,” Abiola quipped. “At Zeuswrap, we focus on giving people the best quality. I want you to go into a business and be seen as bankable simply because your car is wrapped by Zeuswrap. Your car passes through us, and it is a different beast coming out of there. It’s just not your car anymore. That’s the bar we set every time we get a quote.”

Holding a master’s in International Business from the University of Sunderland in the UK, the business mogul and car enthusiast has cut a niche within the city’s luxury car maintenance market, wrapping at least 500 cars since the company took off a few years ago.

Beyond wrapping cars, Abiola is also popular within the car community, especially across the European Grand Prix, where he’s driven at least four Formula 1 cars. With a personal stash of self-constructed miniature supercars, the car aficionado has become a notable figure among investors, entrepreneurs, and enthusiasts alike in the global car community.
