CONTRAST to last week’s march by women in red who marched through major streets of Benin City protesting against the alleged denigration of Chief Gabriel Igbinedion by Governor Adams Oshimhole and the charge use charge by the state government, another set of women, in their thousands, and dressed in white yesterday staged a solidarity walk to the Government House, Benin City pledging support for governor.

The women in red had alleged that the ‘insults’ meted to Igbinedion were anathema to Benin nation populated by very ‘respectful people’ and adore the sterling lifestyle and qualities of the Esama.

The women in white, on their part, backed Oshiomhole and the All Progressives Congress government in the state.

The women, drawn from the three senatorial districts in the state, spoke in Bini, Esan, Etsako, Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo and Ijaw languages praising the actions of the government. They said their white apparel represented purity and pureness.

Addressing the women in Pidgin English, Oshiomhole condemned the recent protests by the earlier women who were cursing him.
