In a lighthearted mood while addressing the Super Falcons at the Presidential Villa on Monday, President Bola Tinubu told the players who represented Nigeria in the just-concluded 2025 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) that they almost made him hungrier during the WAFCON final.

On Saturday, the Super Falcons emerged winners of the 2025 WAFCON, securing their tenth WAFCON win. They were hosted at the Presidential Villa on Monday, where the team presented the trophy to the president.

Tinubu commended them for their victory, noting that they have made the country proud and inspired millions, including him.

He also narrated what transpired while the team was playing on Saturday.

“But what you almost did was get me hungrier because your mother, the First Lady, was in the kitchen, almost abandoning my dinner. The game that she doesn’t really watch except the girls are playing. She came running and said we have won.

“I said you have not won. And at the end of the final whistle, it was all excitement all over the country. You have inspired millions especially young girls who now see proof that their dreams are valid,” said Tinubu.
