You’re society’s conscience, uphold ethical standards, Ondo ex-CJ tells journalists

Use your light to illuminate, correct societal ills, says cleric

A former Chief Judge of Ondo State, Oluwatoyin Akeredolu, has urged journalists and media practitioners to uphold professionalism and high ethical standards in the discharge of their duties as the conscience of society.

Retired Justice Akeredolu gave the charge during the thanksgiving service held to commemorate and herald the 2023 Press Week of the Ondo Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), held at New Covenant Church, Agagu Road, Akure, the state capital.

She said the critical roles that journalists play in the development of any nation could not be overstated. The Presiding Pastor, Rev. Rotimi Fagboyegun, in his remarks, urged journalists to continue to be the light of the world that would illuminate and correct the ills of the society.

Fagboyegun prayed for wisdom and understanding for journalists to enable them carry out their duties. He prayed for them so that they could carry on with the urge to build a better society.
