The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, in collaboration with the Huaxing Art Troupe Nigeria, China Business Association, and Overseas Chinese Women’s Federation, have hosted a Christmas and New Year party to celebrate outstanding students and strengthen Nigeria-China cultural ties.

Consul General Yan Yuqing stressed China’s commitment to supporting Nigerian communities through education and health initiatives.

She said, “Our relationship is built on mutual respect and cultural exchange. We have supported classroom construction, school renovations, scholarships, and healthcare services, including our ‘Renewed Hope, Rebirth from the Light’ charity program, which has helped 250 individuals regain their sight through cataract surgeries.”

Chairman of Huaxing Art Troupe Nigeria, Dr. Eric Ni noted the importance of nurturing children.

“Celebrating students promotes the China-Nigeria relationship and shows gratitude. Our Nigeria-China Cultural Exchange program has fostered deeper cultural understanding through school activities.”

The event witnessed over 2,000 students from various Lagos schools, featuring traditional Nigerian and Chinese dances, martial arts displays, and cultural performances.

Ten schools received N100,000 each, while 50 outstanding students received N50,000 scholarships.
