NFF declares Super Eagles coaching job vacant

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has declared the Super Eagles coaching job vacant.


The NFF made this known following the exit of Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro.

Peseiro led the Eagles to a second place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.

There were reports that Peseiro, who was on $50,000 a month, asked for $120,000 before he would renew his contract. The NFF turned down the request.


The football body through the office of the General Secretary, has now declared the position open for interested coaches.

“Are you passionate and experienced football coach ready to take on the challenge of leading the national team? The Nigeria Football Federation is pleased to announce openings for the position of Head Coach for the Senior Men’s National Football Team, Super Eagles.”

The requirements listed for the interested candidates include: relevant coaching qualifications, proven experience at the elite level of football management, a successful track record in leading teams and also knowledge of African football.


Deadline for submission of applications is 6pm on Tuesday, 12 March 2024.

Also, the NFF announced that the coaching job of the U-17 men’s national team,Golden Eaglets, is open for interested candidates.

The Eagles will resume the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June with a Group C home game against South Africa.
