NFVCB releases list of newly censored films

The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) recently, censored 274 films between January to March 2024. This represents a 2.1 per cent decline compared to the 280 films, which the apex film regulator classified during the first quarter of 2023.

Further perusal of the data shows that the Abuja head office of the board accounted for more than half of the movies verified and approved by the board during the review of the first quarter of 2024.

During the review period, the majority of the films that were verified and approved by the Board were classified by genre and audience viewership. The films classified under the 18 created for mature audiences comprised well over 50 per cent of all the approved films. The remaining films were classified as 15, 12, Parental Guidance, and General, respectively.

However, Films in the English Language were 250, followed by Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa and Hindi languages.
