NIESV’s new leadership pledges reform, new strategy

Victor Alonge

The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) has ushered in a new chapter with the inauguration of Mr Victor Alonge as its president.
Alonge’s ascension to leadership comes at a crucial time for the professional body, which has faced challenges due to a potential skills gap and a need for a stronger public voice. During his inauguration in Edo State, he acknowledged these challenges head-on.

He brings a wealth of experience, having held prominent positions within both NIESV and the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON). He emphasised this experience and promised to navigate his new role alongside new leaders elected by the body.

Alonge’s vision for a “New NIESV” prioritises member well-being and professional growth, alongside a renewed commitment to serving the community. He pledged increased transparency and accountability within the organisation, highlighting the importance of improving public perception of the profession.

He outlined a four-pronged plan, while vowing to reform, restructure, reposition, and ensure the relevance of NIESV. “This comprehensive strategy to revitalise NIESV involves reforming internal practices to streamline operations and boost effectiveness, restructuring the organisation to maximise its impact and better serve members,” Alonge said.

He also plans to reposition NIESV in the public eye to improve public understanding of the profession’s value to the Nigerian economy and ensure their relevance by securing a strong voice in both public and private sectors.

Alonge also expressed his determination and optimism, while acknowledging the challenges but expressing his enthusiasm about working with his colleagues to usher in a new era for NIESV.

“These are challenging but interesting and achievable agendas, and I am excited at the prospect of working with the new council to accomplish them,” he declared. He added, “We will work hard to bring back our lost glory.”
