Mohammed Umar Bago

Niger State Governor-elect, Mohammed Umar Bago, has raised a 62-member transition council to facilitate seamless handover to the incoming administration.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the exercise in Minna, Bago said the members were carefully selected for the task.

“We identified with the best brains in different fields of life and profession. People, who have written their names in gold at the state and federal levels and even private sector, were considered. We did the assignment across party lines,” he said.

The governor-elect explained that the council would mostly carry out advisory role that would ensure smooth transition. Earlier, the chairman,. Suleiman Abdul Ndanusa, had appreciated the opportunity to serve and promised to deliver.

Amid the huge task, he said the panel would be split into sub-committees for service delivery.  Outgoing Deputy Governor, Ahmed Mohammed Ketso, and Special Adviser to Governor Sani Bello on Political Matters, Nma Kolo, described the council as a robust one.

They expressed optimism that the body would achieve desired result, thereby making the next administration to start on a sound footing.
