The Niger Republic troops of Operation Faraoutar Bushiya have arrested the notorious armed bandit, Kachalla Baleri.


He was apprehended on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Rouga Kowa Gwani in Guidan Roumdji commune and department.

Baleri, originally from Shinkafi in Katsina State, has been terrorising the residents in the North West of Zamfara, Sokoto, and the Maradi region in Niger Republic.

He has perpetrated large-scale killings and abductions and has imposed levies on communities in the North West.


Security expert in the Lake Chad area, Zagazola Makama, hinted that he was the right-hand man of the notorious Kachalla Bello Turji and he was ranked 40th on the most wanted list by the Nigerian Army.

According to the chief of the tactical staff of Operation Faraoutar Bushiya, Colonel Mohamed Almoctar Seydou Niandou, Baleri was apprehended around 1 p.m. during its clearance operation, 10 km east of Tankama, while meeting with his men planning attacks in Nigeria and Niger.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony of the criminals, the Governor of the region, CGP Issoufou Mamane, and the Prosecutor of the Republic, Adamou Abdou Adam, hailed and encouraged the professionalism and commitment of the SDFs deployed in the group.
