Nigeria gospel music awards rebrands as Nigeria International Gospel Music Awards, unveils new logo

Nigeria’s gospel music awards ceremony formerly known as Nigeria Gospel Music Awards (NIGMA) has undergone a rebranding and is now officially named Nigeria International Gospel Music Awards (NIGMA). The new name along with a new logo that symbolises its commitment to celebrating the global impact of Nigerian gospel music was unveiled at a media briefing in Lagos.


The Team Lead and Chief Responsibility Officer of NIGMA, Kingsley Omoefe, explained that the decision to rebrand as Nigeria International Gospel Music Awards reflects the organisation’s recognition of the ever-expanding reach and influence of the Nigerian gospel music on the global stage.

Omoefe who is a notable television and movie director stated that by embracing the international dimension of the music genre, NIGMA aims to acknowledge the remarkable achievements of Nigerian gospel artistes who have garnered acclaim and touched lives beyond the nation’s borders.

He said: “Accompanying the rebrand is the unveiling of a brand-new logo that captures the spirit and essence of NIGMA. The logo features vibrant colours, symbolic elements and dynamic typography, all harmoniously blended to represent the diverse tapestry of Nigerian gospel music. It signifies the union of faith, creativity and global recognition, establishing NIGMA as a platform that showcases the best of Nigerian gospel music to the world.

“ We are, indeed, delighted to announce the rebranding of Nigeria Gospel Music Awards as Nigeria International Gospel Music Awards,” Omoefe said, adding that the transformation aligns with the award’s body vision to celebrate and promote the exceptional talents of the Nigerian gospel music artistes on a global scale.

“ The new logo embodies our commitment to excellence, unity, and the profound impact of Nigerian gospel music worldwide.”


Also speaking at the briefing that attracted personalities in different genre of music and the entertainment sector, including veteran journalist Mr. Nsikak Essien; foremost arts and entertainment journalist, Dr Shaibu Husseini; Managing Director of Abel Sell Limited makers of Frizz Water, Tshewo Boyo; and Mr. Alayande Stephen of Eagle House Global Resources, NIGMA’s Project Director Victor Gbinigie and the Head of Strategy, Peter Boyo, reiterated that the Nigeria International Gospel Music Awards (NIGMA) will continue its tradition of honoring outstanding achievements in the gospel music industry.

“The revamped awards ceremony will showcase remarkable talents across various categories, recognising artistes, songwriters, producers and others who have made significant contributions to the genre’s growth and influence,” said Gbinigie who runs the popular gospel platform Gospogroove.
