The Nigerian government revealed on Tuesday its plan to build a drone assembly plant in the country.

The Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Khalil Suleiman Halilu, revealed this after signing the contract.

“I signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between @NASENIHQ and @CavertonGroup with the aim of establishing, in Nigeria, a Drone Assembly Plant,” Halilu wrote on X.

Apart from a Drone Assembly Plant, Halilu said the project will include a Drone Training School, as well as a Service Center for helicopters.

According to him, the partnership with Caverton will yield significant outcomes in job creation.

He added that the collaboration will also help in the areas of skilling, industrialization, and the development of Nigeria’s aviation industry.

“At NASENI, we’re always keen to engage with stakeholders and opportunities at the cutting edge of technology and innovation in Nigeria,” Halilu said.

“That is why I am very excited about this partnership with Caverton, one of the leading players in Nigeria’s and Africa’s aviation industry.”
