Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has named his Afrobeats GOAT, giving preference to Davido ahead of BurnaBoy, two of the leading musicians in the Nigerian music scene today.
The goalkeeper in a video now circulating online was asked who he preferred of the two musicians. He said Burnaboy is among the top but he believes Davido is better.
When asked directly who he prefers he gave a direct answer, “Davido! Of course Burna Boy is top, but for me Davido is ahead, personally I listen more to Davido’s songs.”
Referring to his playlist, he says though there’s Burna Boy, he has more of Davido’s songs at his place than the former.
He also disclosed that he doesn’t listen to much of Wizkid, but rather he prefers other artistes like Peruzzi.
“I think I said I’m not listening to much of Wizkid and Davido or so, but smaller artistes like Peruzzi, but Davido is top top” he exclaimed.

The Nigerian music scene has been dominated by the three afrobeats stars, with fans torn apart in who is better and who is not. Some have even tagged them the big cats while newer stars are seen as the smaller cats.
Okoye became popular for his good looks, after featuring for Nigeria at the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast earlier this year.
Meanwhile he is struggling to stage a comeback to the national team following an error which led to Nigeria’s elimination from the 2021 AFCON after losing 1-0 to Tunisia in the round of 16.
