Nigerian showbiz boss boosts Afrobeats in Asia

…Sugarboi, other stars to light up event

Kingsley Chimeluo Okafor, popularly known as Akubig, is a serial entertainment entrepreneur who is keen on popularising afrobeats across Asia.

He hails from Anambra State in Nigeria, which is home to Obi Cubana and other illustrious bigwigs in the entertainment industry.

Akubig is based in the Philippines and owns an entertainment company, that has several prodigious talents on its music label.

As the CEO of ‘E Choke Entertainment,’ a company he founded in June 2022, he has been at the forefront promoting the afrobeats music genre in Asia, a venture that is not so popular.

But, according to the entertainment guru, the continent is ripe to partake of the success of the music genre which he says he grew up to know and love at an early age, listening to legends like Fela Kuti, among others.

Disclosing his interest in music, Akubig explained: “I grew up in Anambra State listening to many music legends; all my life I’ve been a lover of music.”

He added, “I ventured into music business because African music is not popular here in Asia, thus I took it upon myself to import African talents to perform and share their music here with Asians.”

The entertainment bigwig has hosted many events in Manila, Philippines.
In fact, Akubig is bringing ace singer and music producer Sugarboy to Manila on the 16th of this month for another massive event that will shake Asia as always. Akubig has also gone as far as bringing OFB Yung of the defunct Cali Swag District, all the way from the United States of America down to Manila to light up one of his recent events.

Going forward, the entertainment boss has appealed to his fans to be steadfast in faith in him, as he looks to do more for African music.
