Nigerian students emerge tops in entrepreneurial competition

For their entrepreneurial excellence, students from Kosofe Senior College, representing Nigeria at the Junior Achievement Africa Company of the Year (COY) competition held in Kigali, Riwanda, has won two awards.


The students, with the team name, ‘The sustainable future advocate company,’ creators of plantain peel briquette, comprised: Fauzyhat Bello, Moses Ilori, Modinat Kareem and Chinenye Nworie.

The students got the Public Choice Award based on votes by Nigerians and Africans, and the Delta Airline Social Impact Award.

The competition featured participants from various countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, Eswatini, Ghana, Mauritius, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and the host country, Rwanda.

Commenting on the award, the Acting Executive Director of Junior Achievement Nigeria, Olaolu Akogun, said, the students were able to attain such feat due to immense contribution of partners.

He said: “The awards received are not solely a testament to the achievements of Team Nigeria. Instead, they signify the combined endeavours of the JA Nigeria community, supporters, and partners who consistently contribute to the empowerment and development of young entrepreneurs.”
