Nigerian crossdresser and social media personality, Bobrisky, was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The arrest is said to have been made over allegations of abuse of naira notes, currency mutilation, and other related offenses.

Naira abuse refers to the improper handling of the Nigerian currency, which can include spraying of naira notes, currency mutilation, and other actions that disrespect or degrade the value of the currency like stepping on the Naira notes.

The controversy surrounding Bobrisky escalated following an award for ‘Best Dressed Female’ at a movie premiere, which resulted in an online debate and a clash with the artist Portable and the social media critic Verydarkman.

The award, which came with a 1 Million Naira cash prize, was questioned by many, including musician Portable, who expressed his disapproval by releasing a diss track targeted at Bobrisky.
