Nigeria’s Senate Unveils President Buhari’s Ministerial Nominee List

Nigeria’s Senate has announced the country’s cabinet nominees proposed by President Muhammadu Buhari almost five months after he was sworn in as the new head of state. 

Buhari who took over from Goodluck Jonathan on 29th May has taken an unbelievably long time to make public his preferred cabinet nominees. 
He has been urging his fellow countrymen to be patient with him as he took time to pick his preferred list at the same time deal with corruption and Boko Haram militants.

Buhari will sit in the new cabinet as its oil minister. This move has received mixed feelings from the country’s public as some believe this will limit accountability in the emotive sector.

Kayode Fayemi – Ekiti
Rotimi Amaechi – Rivers, Immediate Past Governor of Rivers State
Babatunde Fashola – Lagos, Immediate Past Governor of Lagos State
Abdulrahman Danbazau
Aisha Alhassan – Taraba
Ogbonaya Onu – Ebonyi
Kemi Adeosun – Ogun
Abubakar Malami (SAN) – Kebbi
Sen Hadi Sirika –Katsina
Barr. Adebayo Shittu – Oyo
Suleiman Adam – Jigawa
Solomon Dalong – Plateau
Ibe Kachikwu – Delta, was appointed CEO of the National Oil Company – NNPC- last August. He could emerge as the Junior Oil Minister.
Osagie Ehanire – Edo
Audu Ogbeh – Benue
Lai Mohammed – Kwara
Ahmed Isa Ibeto – Niger
Amina Mohammed – Kaduna

The Senate will commence the screening of the candidates on the 13th of October.
