Nile University Hosts 5th Career Fair, Prepares Students for the Future of Work

Abuja, Nigeria– Nile University of Nigeria recently organized its 5th annual career fair that brought together over 110 employer-partners from various industries including eHealth Africa, China Harbour Engineering Company, DBN, PwC, Grant Thornton, Jubaili Bros, Norrenberger, GLO, Starsight, GT Bank, Standard Bank, Aluko and Oyebode, Huawei among others, to interact with students and discuss the future of the workplace in the face of AI and other emerging technologies.
The career fair, which held on the university’s campus provided a platform for dialogue, offering the students insights into the evolving world of work and how AI and other technological advancements are reshaping job roles and creating new opportunities

The Vice Chancellor of Nile University of Nigeria, Prof. Dilli Dogo, in his welcome address, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “Our goal is to equip our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the rapidly changing world of work. This career fair is a testament to our commitment to providing our students with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.”
The event commenced with an insightful keynote address by Mr. Habeeb Jaiyeola, a Partner, at PwC Nigeria who highlighted the profound impact of AI on various sectors, from healthcare to finance. Mr. Jaiyeola emphasized the importance of adaptability and continuous learning in order to be outstanding in the job market.

The highlight of the event was the panel discussion featuring distinguished speakers and industry professionals comprising: Mr. Habeeb Jaiyeola (Partner, PwC Nigeria), Jamila Akaaga Ade, MCIArb. (UK), FIMC, ACIS: (Assistant Director & Head, Cyber Crime Unit, Department of Public Prosecutions, Federal Ministry of Justice, Nigeria.), Mr. Adesina Matti (HR Manager, eHealth Africa), Mr. Tochukwu Mbanugo (Partner & Innovation Director Grant Thornton, Nigeria), who was represented by Mr. Ugochukwu Modum.

During the discussion, the panelists addressed critical topics such as the integration of AI in various industries, the skills needed to thrive in a technology-driven workplace, and the importance of continuous learning and adaptability. They also emphasized the growing demand for tech-savvy professionals who can navigate the complexities of digital transformation.
Students had the opportunity to participate in interactive sessions where they asked questions and received personalized career advice from the experts. These sessions were designed to help students identify their strengths, understand industry expectations, and prepare for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

In addition to the panel discussion, the career fair featured numerous booths where over 11o employer-partners showcased their organizations, and shared information about internship and job opportunities. This direct interaction enabled students to network with potential employers, explore various career paths, and gain a better understanding of the skills and qualifications required in today’s competitive job market.
Students who attended the career fair expressed their excitement and appreciation for the opportunity to learn from industry leaders. “This event has been incredibly eye-opening,” said Khaira Abubakar, a final-year student of Mass Communication at Nile University of Nigeria. “The insights on AI and the future of work have motivated me to pursue further interest in data science.”

The career fair at Nile University was a resounding success, leaving both students and employer-partners with a renewed sense of purpose and excitement about the future. By bridging the gap between academia and industry, Nile University continues to pave the way for its students to become innovative leaders in their chosen fields.
