The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has declared a two-day nationwide protest scheduled to be held on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28, February, 2024.

NLC president, Joe Ajaero, made the declaration on Friday at Labour House, Abuja, during an emergency session.

According to Ajaero, the decision was taken after the expiration of the 14-day ultimatum issued earlier to the Federal Government due to the hardship across the country.

Labour called out the government for failing to implement the agreement reached in October.

It expressed regret that they had to resort to such measures, but the persistent neglect of the welfare of citizens and Nigerian workers and the massive hardship left them with no choice.

Nigeria’s economy is battling with a cost of living crisis that is fueled by the highest inflation rate in nearly 30 years.

Insecurity has also affected agricultural output, leading to food price inflation.
