.Lagos HoS charges Nigerian youths to brace up for leadership challenges

Wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, yesterday, stressed the need for parents to ensure that their male children have appropriate mentors and role models to help them become change-agent and be successful.

She said that parents should not allow their children to see and pick any celebrity and successful people as role models and mentors because not all celebrities and successful persons are fit to be role models and mentors to children.

Sanwo-Olu stated this, yesterday, during the ongoing three-day residential workshop for boys, with the theme, “Awaken the Boy-child Towards Becoming a Change-agent put together under the Lagos Boy-Child Initiative.

She said a lot of things and people are competing negatively for the attention of children, especially boy-child, reason parents must do their best to guide their wards rightly.

The governor’s wife said that if parents are not there for their children, people will distract them and lead them to engage in negative acts, including drug abuse.

She advised parents to ensure that their children go through primary and secondary education, as it is critical to their development.

Relatedly, Lagos State Head of Service (HoS), Olabode Agoro, has charged youths to brace up for leadership challenges rocking the country and contribute their quota to the development of the nation.

Agoro gave the advice, yesterday, during the re-commissioning of Isheri Primary Health Centre and the official Capstone project launch for the Greater Health Project.
The initiative is being championed and funded by fellows of Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA Team Impact).

The HoS, who commended the fellows of the Academy for their contributions to the development of the society, urged other youths to emulate them.

Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Samiat Bada, appreciated the Academy for the laudable programme aimed at improving the healthcare services for the people of the area.

She also acknowledged the efforts of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, to ensure development at the grassroots from health to tourism, and transportation, among others.

In his welcome address, the Project Team Lead, Michael Ogunkoya, who appreciated Sanwo-Olu and his team for giving them a platform to bring out their hidden talents, said that before their intervention, the health centre being re-commissioned lacked good structure and sustainable energy systems.
