NSCDC begins ‘Operation Adakasu’, commission’s tactical squad, gun trucks

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has scale up it’s onslaught against insecurity with the introduction of a Special Tactical Squad and gun trucks under the new ‘Operation Adakasu’, (operation crush them).

Commandant General, NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Audi, commissioned the squad and three gun trucks alongside the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), minister, Nyesom Wike, at the NSCDC FCT command , yesterday in in Abuja.


He said “The nation is passing through a quagmire called asymmetric and that is why this hydraheaded problem require a very rugged octopus solution.

“The commissioning of these guntrucks is one of the strategic ways and methods of providing solutions to this present challenge,” he said.

Audi adds that “The corps has procured a number of guntrucks and the corps has distributed it to various states and today we are commissioning these as part of our line up of activities for the International Civil Defence Day, (ICDD) which has coincidentally come to also be the day that I was inaugurated and decorated as the third substantive Commandant General, that is on the first of March.

“First of March of every year is the day that is celebrated as the international civil defence day and is celebrated worldwide by all member states of the ICDD.

Speaking on the importance of the tactical team and security equipment launched for Operation Adakasu, FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, pointed that security agents in the FCT have committed in their task of protecting the nation’s capital and “This has made me feel safe.”

He said “Is see all the security agents fully ready to co-operate with one another in terms of providing for the FCT and this is something that is worth celebrating.

“We are all aware of the situation we are in and the security challenges we are facing nationwide and not only in the FCT however, the situation in the FCT of recent has drastically improved in the sense that the security agencies rose up to their responsibility ensuring that they work together hand in hand to expel criminal elements that are disturbing the peace and security of the FCT.


“We are aware that driving criminality is mobile in nature therefore providing the security agencies with needed impetus terms of fighting crime, is germain hence, we will provide them with all the needed requirement to fight crime in the FCT and all the nooks and crannies of the territory particularly the rural areas where issues of abductions and banditry are.”

Stressing the determination of the NSCDC to carry out the Operation Adakasu, FCT Commandant of the corps, Olusola Odumosu, said “We are no doubt repositioning for more service provision therefore, let the good people of the federal capital territory be assured we are fully ready to protect lives and property.

“As a command, we will continue to do all that it takes to rid the FCT of criminal elements and this is not without support from our result oriented minister of FCT who at different fora has made commitment and expressed willingness to continue to support security agencies in the FCT for enhanced service delivery.

“For us to be properly positioned for enhanced, effective service delivery, the FCT command needs more operational vehicles, communication gadgets and other protection wares and other vital equipment to meet expansion of our operations, we also require support with motorcycles.”
