NSE pledges more contributions to nation’s economic development

President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr Margaret Aina Oguntala

The National President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Margaret Aina Oguntala, yesterday said the body was committed to fostering an environment that recognises and values the contributions of every engineer regardless of gender.

Oguntala, who is the 34th president of the society, said her emergence reflects the diversity in leadership and has strengthened the profession to foster innovations for a brighter future.

Oguntala spoke through the Vice President, South East Zone of the NSE, Felicia Agubata, in an address at the investiture ceremony of Idaeresoari Ateke as the 22nd Chairman of NSE, Port Harcourt Branch at the weekend in Port Harcourt.

Ateke is the first female chairman of the branch after 51 years.

According to her, the milestone the women were making in a men-dominated terrain is a testament to the efforts of the Society towards a more inclusive and diverse engineering community.

“We understand that diversity in leadership strengthens our profession, fosters innovation and paves the way for a brighter future.”
