NUFBTE trains elected officers

The National Union of Food, Beverage and Tobacco Employees (NUFBTE) has equipped over 100 newly-elected officers, who participated in a two-day training.


Welcoming the participants, the National President of the union, Ibrahim Garba, affirmed that training and re-training of its officers and members remains a core vision of the union’s leadership.

Garba noted that the union’s target was to ensure that all rank-and-file members acquired the essential knowledge needed for day-to-day activities and also to upgrade their trade union capacity.

The president highlighted that the course content was packaged to expose all participants to the rudiments of trade union practices and equally avail them limitless potential to accomplish short and long-term benefits that would ultimately guarantee industrial peace, harmony and enhance productivity.


In his remarks, the General Secretary of NUFBTE, Mike Olanrewaju, emphasised that over the years, the union has not been able to conduct training of this magnitude for its members across the country.

Henceforth, he pledged such training would be intensified to create an inclusive and enabling environment for the union’s leaders at all levels to be able to navigate the current economic turbulent and excruciating situation in the area of trade union activism.

In his opening remarks, Principal Partner, Heaven Dove Resources and Consultant, Dr Leke Success, said facilitators that are experts in trade unionism and industrial relations matters have been selected during the programme.
