Oduduwa Youths urge Tinubu to warn minister over political crisis in Rivers State

Bola Tinubu and Nyesom Wike

The Oduduwa Youth group has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to promptly caution his Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, and prevent the escalation of political tensions in Rivers State.

The group highlighted the historical repercussions of political crises, citing the downfall of the late President Shehu Shagari’s government as a cautionary example.

In a statement issued by Ayo Bola, the Oduduwa Youth group expressed concerns about the situation in Rivers State since the transition of power from former Governor Wike to the current Governor Siminialayi Fubara.

They raised alarm over Wike’s alleged attempts to maintain control over the state’s governance apparatus, leading to conflicts and disruptions in the political landscape.

The group accused Wike of orchestrating the impeachment of Governor Fubara and the defection of 27 loyalists in the Rivers State House of Assembly, which they described as a threat to democracy.

Despite efforts by Governor Fubara to implement peace agreements, Wike and his allies continued to undermine the truce and engage in destabilizing activities, the group claimed in its statement.

The Oduduwa Youth group underscored the importance of President Tinubu intervening in the situation and specifically advising Minister Wike to uphold peace and respect democratic processes.

They also appreciated the President’s commitment to fairness in the crisis but urged him to address the allegations implicating Minister Wike in the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State.
