Ofor urges Enugu Governor-elect to prioritise transport advancements

Dr. Peter Mbah

The Managing Director of Orava Nigeria Limited, a marine logistics firm, Darlington Ofor has encouraged the Enugu State Governor-elect, Peter Mbah to prioritise transport sector advancements as a critical component under his administration.

As a transport expert and former Deputy National President of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration (CIOTA) Nigeria, Ofor observed that Enugu State transport system is in dire need of an overhaul.

While noting that the outgoing administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has made modest achievements in the state, Ofor lamented that transportation was not prioritised as a key component for economic growth in recent years.

Recall that Mbah, the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, won the 2023 governorship election in the state having obtained 160,895 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, who scored 157,552 votes.

Speaking with newsmen on the development, Ofor noted that Peter Mbah’s exemplary leadership and business acumen as the Chairman of Pinnacle Oil and Gas Limited has availed him valuable experience to judiciously manage the resources of Enugu State.

Ofor also charged Mbah to constructively engage and partner with crucial stakeholders to develop blueprints for economic advancement, security, technology, education, health, social investments, youth and women empowerment, among others.

Noting that Mbah has previously served as a former Enugu State Commissioner for Finance, Ofor urged the Governor-elect to equally channel his experience into managing the state’s finances.

He, however, encouraged the governor-elect to ensure he prioritises the interest of the people and incorporates all parts of the state in his developmental strides, irrespective of their voting decision at the last polls.

According to Ofor, the Enugu governor-elect has distinguished himself as an upright person that would be able to consolidate on the achievement of the outgoing governor.

“I want to specially congratulate Mr. Peter Mbah on his victory at the Enugu State governorship elections to emerge governor-elect. I also want to encourage him to be aware that the real test of leadership will begin when he is sworn-in on May 29.”

“When you look at the way he has successfully handled Pinnacle Oil and Gas with numerous filling stations and other thriving businesses, you can be sure that Peter Mbah has the skills and competence to lead the state to greater heights,” Ofor said.
