The Ogun State Government has appealed to all employers of labour in both public and private organisations in the state, to carry out their statutory obligations of filing their yearly tax returns for 2021 on or before January 31, 2022, to avoid penalty.

In a statement yesterday, from the Office of the Executive Chairman, Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS), Olugbenga Olaleye, the state government said all employers of labour are statutorily obliged to file in yearly tax returns, both PAYE and withholding taxes in line with the provision of section 8 (1-3) of Personal Income Tax Act, 2011 as amended, Paragraph 10 of 2002 PAYE Regulations and withholding Tax returns of sections 41, 69-72.

He said any employer, who contravenes the provisions of the law would be liable on conviction to pay N500, 000, for a corporate body and N50, 000 in case of an individual.

While appreciating all taxpayers for previous transactions, he enjoined them to log in to OGIRS website, https://OGIRS.ogunstate.gov.ng or email at ogirs@ogunstate.gov.ng or visit any of the tax stations across the state for enquiries.
