Fintiri inaugurates 9.7km road in Oyo, commends Makinde on infrastructure

In his determination to ensure an all-inclusive transformation and infrastructure development of Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved road projects in Ijebu East, Ogun Waterside, Yewa South, Ikenne, Ijebu North and Odogbolu councils.

The Guardian learnt that of the six councils, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside remain the only two of the 20 councils where the incumbent administration has yet to build any road.

A statement issued in Abeokuta, yesterday, by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor, Kunle Somorin, said the approval was in consonance with the state government’s pledge to develop all parts of the state.

“We have included Ogun Waterside and Ijebu East that had not benefited from new road projects before now. Also, the 24.5-kilometers Ilaro-Iwoye-Owode road in Yewa South Council has been prioritised and awarded,” the statement reads.

IN a related development, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde and his Adamawa State counterpart, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, yesterday, inaugurated the expanded 9.7km Oke-Ogun-Poly-Saki Township-Ilesha Ibaruba Road.

Fintiri, who was the special guest of honour at the event, commended Makinde for delivering such a massive road project, among many others, in spite of the economic challenges in the country.

He congratulated Makinde on standing firm with his people, saying that governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were living up to the expectations of their peoples.

A statement issued by Taiwo Adisa, Chief Press Secretary to Makinde, also indicated that Fintiri also commended the people of the state for supporting Makinde, noting that he (Makinde) was passionate about the development of Oyo State.

Speaking during the ceremony at the Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, Makinde maintained that the Saki Township road project would boost the socio-economic development of the state and play a critical role in engineering a modern Oyo State.
