Following the principle of rotation of President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo among the seven Igbo-speaking states of Rivers, Anambra, Ebonyi, Imo, Abia, Delta and Enugu, the Secretary General of the Chidi Ibeh-led faction of apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, yesterday, insisted that the next President General of Ohaneze, whose election is scheduled to be held in January next year, must come from Rivers State.

In a statement in Abakaliki, Isiguzoro maintained that the Constitution of the Ohanaeze, as decreed in 2024, prescribed that Rivers State shall rightfully produce the president general, noting that those trying to divert it to another state will be resisted.

He said: “The Secretary-General of Ohanaeze stands firm in unyielding fidelity to the Constitutional tenets. Talks and consultations reverberate across the seven Igbo-speaking states, in preparation for the impending elections. The fervor among Ndigbo is palpable, as the prospect of a Rivers State leader at the helm stirs anticipation and emotion.

“The emergence of a new president general from Rivers in 2025 holds profound significance, promising to shatter misconceptions and usher in a cultural renaissance. The ripples of this historic event will redefine societal values and empower the Ikwerre, Etche, Ndoni, Opopo and other Igbo indigenes of Rivers to embrace their true heritage with unwavering pride.

“Much like the legacy of the late Ambassador Ralph Uwechue, whose leadership reignited pride within the Anioma people, the path ahead holds the promise of unity and progress for all.”
