Ohanaeze youths urge Tinubu to intervene in Rivers political crisis

Pained by the disruption of government activities, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths, on Thursday, asked President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the political crisis in Rivers State.

They appealed to Tinubu to prevail on the Minister for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom, and his supporters.

Ohanaeze youths spokesman, Mazi Chika Art Adiele, in a statement, stated that the continuous disruption in activities of governance for political gains would have dire consequences on the economy of the state if not checked.

The group stated that there is only one governor allowed by the constitution at a time in a state, stressing that it was sad that certain people decided to constitute a clog in the administration of the state.

“We are miffed by the audacity of the outgone Chairmen and their agents to disrupt Government activities in the Local Government Headquarters across the state by barricading the entrance to these Government facilities,” Adiele said.

“Indeed, there is a saying in Igbo adage that says; if the oracle misbehaves it will be reminded that it was carved out of the wood.

“Nigeria is a Constitutional democracy as it is an aberration for anyone to attempt to play God in the affairs of men.

“Constitutionally, Gov Fubara, was elected to serve a four-year term, with a constitutional convention for a second term, just like the outgone Chairmen.

“Therefore, the Igbo youths call on Mr President to wade into this brouhaha in a bid to de-escalate this tension.”
