Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Sunday, dispelled rumours making the rounds that his predecessor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, is still in control of government affairs after leaving office.

Oborevweri categorically said that Okowa, unlike other former governors of some states, respects his office, and does not interfere in the governance of Delta State.

The governor disclosed this in his remarks at the 60th birthday and 24th marriage anniversary thanksgiving of the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olorogun Kingsley Esiso, at Living Faith Church, Shell Road, Sapele.

He said: “Okowa is a good man; he is not like predecessors of other states. He has never interfered in the governance of the state. He has immense respect for the office of the governor being an immediate past occupant of the office.

“You are a good man; you are not like predecessors in other states. Our immediate past governor is a very refined man. So, many rumours were flying, but the truth is that he has never interfered with what we are doing in the state.”

He congratulated Esiso on his 60th birth anniversary, saying that thanksgiving to God increases a man’s age.

“Coming to thank God will increase your age; some people will organise big parties but the most important thing is your coming to thank God who is the giver of life,” the governor said.
