In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Ikeja High School Old Students’ Association (IHSOSA),’94 set, recently commissioned projects to aid learning, and rewarded outstanding former teachers of the school.
The commissioned projects included health bay, security house, male and female toilets attached to the school hall, desks and stools, hall lights and photocopier machine.
The set also gave awards and cash gifts to their former principal and six teachers in appreciation of their efforts and hardwork.
And to enhance their performance, the association also organised training and career talks for the students.
Speaking at the event, president of IHS ‘94 set, Dr Abdulrazaq Ogunmoye, said 36 years ago, they were admitted into one of the best and most competitive secondary schools in Ikeja, where they built confidence, dignity, discipline, tenacity, lifelong friendships and acquired the knowledge and skills that have propelled them to where they are today.
“The principal, together with the teachers, took deliberate steps to ensure that we were tutored, trained and prepared to take on our world. We were drilled, stretched, disciplined and challenged, but we kept our dreams alive and 30 years after, we are here,” he said.
Chairman, planning committee, Mrs Funmi Alasholuyl, charged other members to continue making a difference in their communities and remain connected to their alma mater.
Global President of the association, Kayode Agbetoye, hailed the efforts of the set, saying they are one of the few that remembered to give back to the school,
The set’s former principal, Michael Olasoji, who was happy to reconnect with his old students, commended them for the various projects they have executed and advised the school not to allow them to be mismanaged.
