David Ombugadu enrols 13,000 indigent residents with NHIS in Nasarawa

The immediate governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Dr. David Ombugadu has issued a cheque of N198 million to enrol 13,000 indigents with the National Health Insurance Scheme in the state.

Ombugadu handed the cheque to the scheme during his ‘homecoming and thanksgiving service’ that drew a mammoth crowd to his residence at Akwanga.

While addressing his supporters, Ombugadu said that he has been emotionally attached to the people of Nasarawa state right from his days at the University of Jos as a student.

“Whether I am in government or not I have programs for the health, education, women and youths empowerment through my Community Development Initiative. I am determined to sustain this to my people in the state irrespective of tribe, religion and political affiliations,” Ombugadu said.


“One thousand indigents each from the 13 local governments in the state will benefit from my health insurance program targeted at providing affordable healthcare service to the less privileged in the state.

“The health of our people is essential and dear to my heart because a healthy person produce a healthy state and nation. It is on this note I am issuing the cheque of N198 million for thirteen thousand enrollee in the state with the NHIS.

He thanked all his supporters who voted him massively at the last year governorship elections that gave him victory that was upheld by the tribunal and later nullified by the supreme court.


Ombugadu commended the women for justice who stood firm inspite all intimidation by the military, police and the state government that confided some of them to prison for over two weeks while demanding for justice in the electoral fraud that took place in the two wards of Gayam and Chiroma in Lafia local government.

He assured his supporters to remained focus, noting that God’s plan for him remains uncheckened.

The two times member of the house of representative urged his colleagues at the National Assembly to prioritize the healthcare of their constituents by at least enrolling 1000 beneficiaries.
